Our Story

Rent The Help began in 2012 with a simple idea: what if getting a few extra hands didn’t have to be so complicated—or expensive? Our founder, Corey Divine, launched the company after realizing there were landscapers and full-service movers—but no one in between. No company that just offered help. Whether you needed a couch moved, a yard raked, or a room rearranged, the options were limited. That gap sparked an idea.
What started as a college break yard project for Corey turned into a business that Richmond didn’t know it needed—but quickly embraced.
In the early days, Rent The Help handled everything from dusting blinds to cleaning baseboards for elderly couples. The work was honest, and the mission was clear: be the bonded and insured version of the helpful neighborhood kid.
As the company grew, we began to hone in on our sweet spot. Today, more than 90% of our work involves moving something—whether that’s house-to-house moves, furniture rearranging within the home, unloading rental trucks, or repetitive lifting tasks like setting up for events.
And through it all, one thing has never changed: we believe the people coming to help should be the kind of people you wantto have around. That’s why we’ve built a part-time crew that reflects character, professionalism, and friendliness. Our team is always evolving, but includes college students, young professionals, firefighters, grad students, and others looking for flexible, rewarding part-time work.
We’re still proudly local. Still focused on showing up on time, ready to work. And still proving that moving labor can be done better—with a smile, a handshake, and a little extra hustle. Just take a look at our customer reviews and you will see how important customer service is to us.
Because sometimes, all you really need…is a little help from the right hands.
